Zack Snyder Shares Deleted Wonder Woman Scene On Gal Gadot’s Birthday

Yesterday was a bit of a holiday in the DCEU world, with Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot celebrating her 33rd birthday. The internet was abuzz with well wishes and posts to help her commemorate the occasion, with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder joining in on the action. In fact, Snyder even took to social media to post an unused shot from a deleted Justice League scene, and it is quintessentially Diana Prince. Check it out, below.

More like happy birthday to his Amazon friend, am I right? The scene in question appears to come from Justice League after the Amazons fire the arrow to warn Diana that Steppenwolf has made his way to Earth. Though we do not know precisely what’s happening in the sequence (it’s just a still shot with no definitive context), Diana’s surroundings (not to mention the torch in her hand) lend the sense that she is exploring a ruin in search of answers to the potentially apocalyptic crisis.

As fans of Justice League can attest, this is not how Justice League looked in its final cut. Diana gets the warning from her mother, and then makes her way to The Batcave to meet up with Bruce Wayne. Though many of the released deleted scenes from the recent Justice League Blu-ray have placed a heavy emphasis on the cut storyline involving the resurrection of Superman (and the addition of the black suit), it looks like the original Zack Snyder version of the movie (before he departed the film in the wake of his daughter’s suicide) included more of Wonder Woman, as well.

Of course, while this deleted scene shot from Zack Snyder’s Vero accountultimately didn’t end up in the final cut of Justice League‘s theatrical or home releases, it is not entirely outside the realm of possibility to imagine that we may see similar scenes play out in future DCEU movies. We know that Wonder Woman 2is on the way, and the sequel will see Diana go up against Kristen Wiig’s Barbara “Cheetah” Minerva. As many DC fans already know, the Minerva incarnation of Cheetah is actually an archaeologist, which means the emphasis on ruins and antiquity may still play a role in the Wonder Woman corner of the DCEU.
