Snyder Calls “Justice League” A “Complete Movie,” Sequel Still On Track

When Warner Bros. initially announced its slate of shared universe DC superhero movies in fall 2014, “Justice League” was listed as a two-part film with release dates in 2017 and 2019. It’s been assumed since then that the first “Justice League” film — which now has a November 17, 2017 release date — would kick-off a two-part story directed by Zack Snyder. During a set visit to “Justice League’s” London set, however, press outlets got an update about the film’s status.

When asked if 2017’s “Justice League” is still a part one of two, director Zack Snyder answered, “Oh, it is a complete movie.” But while it’s a complete movie, Snyder said that there’s “of course” elements of the film that will leave fans anticipating more DC movies. “The movie doesn’t end and you go, ‘OK, well that’s the DC Universe!’” joked Snyder.

Snyder also addressed what this means for 2019’s “Justice League” sequel, saying “I think we still have a release date.” It just appears that the structure of the two “Justice League” films has changed so that they will be two separate films — like “Avengers” and “Avengers: Age of Ultron” — as opposed to two halves of one film — like the film adaptations of the novels “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” or “Mockingjay.”

The synopsis for 2017’s “Justice League” was recently released.

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes-Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash-it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions. Directed by Zack Snyder, this marks the big screen debut of the Justice League, featuring an all-star lineup: Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller and Ray Fisher.
